Children must be under the age of 18 years old and both parents’ income should not exceed Rs 100,000 per month. SACIM assumes responsibility for surgery of up to a maximum of Rs 500,000

Consultation : Medical Investigation
Consultation / Medical Examination
A medical referral from the treating doctor for a surgical condition that cannot be treated in public facilities, along with other medical reports are required for a consultation by two SACIM doctors. Further investigations are carried out if so required. After meeting the medical criteria, a cost estimate of the surgery is requested from a local private clinic or a medical centre abroad.

Simultaneously, a social inquiry report is requested from the Probation and After Care Service of the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity (Social Security and National Solidarity Division) to know about the patient’s family background and specially the incomes derived by the parents.

On the basis of the medical and social reports and the cost estimate for the surgery, the SACIM Board decides to refer the patient to either a local private clinic or to a medical facility abroad.

Once approved by the Board members’ arrangements are made for the surgery is carried out. Subsequently, agreements between the parents and SACIM are finalised to ensure a smooth process for the intervention to be carried out on the child.

After surgery follow-up of the patient is carried out by SACIM doctors regularly to ensure his/her recovery.
