Our Local & Overseas Collaborators
Our collaborators play a crucial role in our mission. They have remained faithful to our Society since its foundation.
Mauritius
We are registered with the National Social Inclusion Foundation (NSIF) (reg. no. 2017/0128), our main financial provider. Some regular sponsors have been at the heart of our financial support since the existence of the Society.
Non-financial supporters are also engaged to serve the Society, namely Probation and After-Care Officers of the Ministry of Social Integration, Social Security and National Solidarity (Social Security and National Solidarity Division), SRA Partners (Auditors), Air Mauritius, SWAN (Insurance), Indian High Commission, among others.
SACIM has a MOU for a working relationship with Wellkin Hospital since year 2020, where most of its patients are being successfully treated. Moreover, the Society also operates with the collaboration of other stakeholders namely C-Care Darné, City Clinic, Medical Practitioners including generalists and specialists concerned, Physiotherapists, Psychologists, Speech Therapists, among others.
India
Since its creation, SACIM has been sending children for treatment abroad. SACIM has thus been working with different medical centres in India such as Calcutta, Delhi, Madras, Bombay and Bangalore as from early 70’s where children have been operated upon successfully.
At present, children are being referred mainly at Narayana Health in Bangalore. The collaboration between SACIM and medical professionals, particularly Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Chairman of the Narayana Health and his dedicated team in Bangalore is of great help in realizing SACIM’s mission.
Australia
Initially, SACIM referred cardiac cases to SACIM – Australia, particularly to Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. Patients were then hosted by different associations created by Mauritians citizen settled there. These associations took the entire responsibility for the costs relating to surgery and accommodation. Subsequently, other specialities were also attended to.
Since 2002, Children of Mauritius Medical and Surgical Support Association, Western Australia (COMMSSA-WA) was supporting SACIM patients.
In some circumstances, COMMSSA-WA has also been providing financial aid to children sent for surgeries in Bangalore and even locally.
